The luxurious 60-key resort is the first Lombok property to open under the Marriott International umbrella
Marriott International has expanded its presence in Indonesia with the 1 November opening of The Sira, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, on the island of Lombok. Situated on a secluded peninsula in Lombok between Mount Rinjani and the popular Gili Islands in the Lesser Sunda Island archipelago – also home to Bali, Flores, Sumba and Sumbawa – The Sira has been designed to blend harmoniously with its surroundings, drawing inspiration from local culture and using indigenous materials and architectural elements that connect guests to Lombok’s distinct landscape.
The resort’s 60 accommodation options include ocean-view suites and one- and two-bedroom villas. The villas include a private pool, outdoor gazebo, buggy use and butler service. Guests in the one-bedroom Beach Front Villas, meanwhile, enjoy direct beach access and sunset views while the two-bedroom Sira Penthouse on the top floor boasts a private infinity pool and two rooftop gazebos.
The cream of the crop accommodation on offer at The Sira is no doubt the 1,485sqm two-bedroom Sira Beach House, decked out with luxurious interiors and comprising ocean glimpses along with a spacious, beachside garden. Perfect for self- contained stays, the Sira Beach House features a full kitchen, two separate living spaces and a butler service.
Each suite and villa is elegantly decorated with hand-hewn Indonesian pottery, artworks, wood carvings and woven soft furnishings, and guests can expect a welcome snack on arrival along with artful floral arrangements in-room, the air fragranced with The Sira’s signature scent.
The Sira also highlights culinary experiences tailored to varied tastes, including The Island’s Table – an all-day dining venue, and the Asian-inspired Sija and Mediterranean-themed Medsa. The resort’s wellness offering comprises beachside yoga and an onsite spa, with activities like sailing and surfing available to those wishing to explore the island’s marine and natural surroundings.
Lombok is an ideal alternative to neighbouring, bustling Bali for those seeking a more laid-back pace and fewer crowds. The island is accessible from Bali by fast boat (1.5-3 hours) or plane (30-40 mins).
