Sneak peek of The EVE Hotel, opening in Sydney this summer

Set to open this summer, The EVE Hotel Sydney merges innovative design, luxurious amenities and a sense of connection to Sydney’s rich cultural heritage

The EVE Hotel Sydney has unveiled new imagery ahead of its launch in the new Wunderlich Lane lifestyle precinct on 13 February 2025. Located at the intersection of Redfern and Surry Hills, the boutique hotel is the result of a collaboration between real estate developer TOGA’s Group, architectural firm SJB, landscape architecture company 360 Degrees and interior architect George Livissianis.

“TOGA has a particular expertise in conceiving and delivering mixed-use precincts, and a passion for creating thoughtfully designed spaces,” states Allan Vidor, Managing Director of TOGA Group. “The EVE Hotel Sydney and Wunderlich Lane precinct bring together the best of Surry Hills and Redfern into one stylish destination.”

Every aspect has been crafted to evoke a sense of style and sophistication at The EVE Hotel

The 102-room hotel places an emphasis on local craftsmanship, while the architecture, designed by SJB’s Adam Haddow, references the hotel’s locale. “The design of the hotel is rooted in our understanding of place. It is earthy and grounded and grows from our belief that the hotel is equally about creating connection and providing reprieve,” Haddow explains. Unique features include custom-designed lighting by Sydney designer Henry Wilson and glazed faience façades, bringing an Australiana-inspired palette into the interiors.

Interior architect George Livissianis continued this vision within the hotel’s rooftop spaces, which have been designed to foster a sense of connection to nature and the outdoors. The space combines textural elements like sandblasted travertine, Palladiana flooring and exposed concrete for an outdoor feel. “We wanted to create a space that felt like an external space – surrounded by planting and absorbed into it,” Livissianis says.

Sydney’s love of the great outdoors spills over The EVE Hotel, literally

The rooftop area is home to an all-weather Mexican restaurant, 20-metre pool and poolside cabanas, with landscaping designed by Daniel Baffsky. The space pays homage to the site’s historical roots as one of Sydney’s earliest pleasure gardens, incorporating lush native plantings alongside exotic palms. “This is an international hotel in a truly international city that’s filled with a rich cultural and botanical heritage,” Baffsky states. “The landscape we’re creating will reflect modern Sydney through the richness and range of its plant life.”

The EVE’s contemporary Mexican restaurant and bar will be operated by Sydney-based hospitality group Liquid & Larder. “We wanted to bring to life a venue concept that fits perfectly with The EVE’s rooftop setting,” shares James Bradey, co-founder of Liquid & Larder. “Mexican does exactly that. Imagine sitting in the open air, margarita in hand, taking in the aromas of a vibrant cuisine – it’s an experience that Sydney is going to love.”

Curves and plants play beautifully together at The EVE Hotel

The EVE is part of the larger Wunderlich Lane precinct, which will offer a curated collection of restaurants, bars, boutique retail, wellness spaces, and residential units. Once a nursery and later the Wunderlich Ltd factory, the site’s transformation aligns with TOGA Group’s vision to create a legacy for the community. “Important to our vision is the legacy we create and leave for the communities in which we develop, and we see that this new precinct will be a place that people can live, work, stay and visit for many years to come,” says Vidor.
