The Golden Eagle Silk Road Express will showcase luxurious design nodding to the opulence of a bygone era
Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has announced it will launch the Golden Eagle Silk Road Express, a new luxury rail experience set to debut in 2026. The newly designed train, showcasing traditional craftsmanship along with state-of-the-art amenities, will offer three exclusive itineraries through historically significant regions along the ancient Silk Road.
Renders of the new train show carriages that evoke the opulence of a bygone era. Spacious ensuite cabins will feature elegant furnishings, handcrafted details and windows offering panoramic views, while dining cars will offer gourmet cuisine inspired by the regions traversed, served in an elegant, refined atmosphere. Guests can also expect modern conveniences such as climate control, high-speed WiFi and soundproofing.

“After four years away from China, we are excited to once again offer our guests the chance to experience these magnificent destinations in a truly immersive and luxurious way,” said James Masterson, Director of Product Development and grandson of Golden Eagle founder Tim Littler.
The ‘Grand Silk Road’ itinerary will span 22 days and 6,500 kilometres, guiding guests from Beijing to historic cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, before continuing into Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Another route, the 13-day ‘China and Tibet Rail Discovery’, will take travellers from Urumqi to Lhasa, featuring stops at Kashgar’s ancient bazaars and the iconic Potala Palace.
Having celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2024, Golden Eagle Luxury Trains is expanding, despite the challenges posed by the Ukraine-Russia conflict, with new European routes including the Paris to Istanbul journey in 2025. The luxury rail company offers luxurious private ensuite accommodations, gourmet dining, personal cabin attendants, guided excursions and a UK doctor on board.
