Anantara opens new resort in the Ubud jungle

Anantara Ubud Bali Resort joins Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort and Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort on ‘The Island of the Gods’, with Anantara Dragon Seseh Bali Resort currently under development in Canggu

Anantara has announced the opening of its newest property in Bali, located in the remote hillside village of Banjar Puhu, Payangan, north of Ubud. The resort, surrounded by dense jungle and mountain streams,  comprises 85 modern suites and pool villas designed to blend contemporary luxury with Balinese cultural influences.

The suites, each measuring 53 square metres, feature oversized bathtubs positioned for jungle views, with ground-floor options offering balconies shaded by trees, and upper-level Payangan Suites boasting private gardens as part of their balconies. Both one- and two-bedroom villas are on offer, each starting at 105 square metres and featuring an infinity pool, spacious living area, and the services of a dedicated villa host. Interiors incorporate natural materials and neutral tones, with subtle Balinese design elements throughout.

Dining options include the signature restaurant, Amerta, led by Chef James Willis, which serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine from a wood-fired grill, while Kirana provides Indonesian dishes and an international breakfast buffet. Additional venues include Sulang, a bar adjacent to the adult-only pool, and the Lobby Lounge, where afternoon tea is served with Mount Agung views.

Facilities at Anantara Ubud Bali include a yoga deck, a TechnoGym-equipped fitness centre, and a kids’ club with separate areas for younger children and teenagers. The Anantara Spa, located in a standalone building, offers treatments inspired by Balinese traditions, including the Taksu Massage and multi-day wellness programs, along with salon services and holistic therapies from visiting practitioners. Couples can opt for tailored experiences, such as the Siraman Journey, which includes a massage, body scrub, and a romantic bath.

Activities designed to immerse guests in the culture of ‘The Island of the Gods’, meanwhile, include gamelan-inspired art installations, workshops with local artisans and cooking classes as part of the Spice Spoons program. The resort also provides guided excursions, including nature drives, hikes and visits to nearby temples for sacred ceremonies.

Anantara Ubud Bali is a three-hour drive from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport and is situated close to Ubud’s cultural attractions.
