“Weird is wonderful” at Jakarta’s new 25hours Hotel The Oddbird

The latest addition to the quirky 25hours portfolio showcases vibrant, outlandish design typical of the brand
The 25hours Hotel The Oddbird has opened its doors in the heart of Jakarta’s Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), marking the debut of the quirky hospitality brand in Indonesia. Located atop the ASHTA Mall in the capital’s District 8, the 38-storey property features 210 rooms and 135 residences and offers a distinctive lifestyle hotel experience that melds stylised design and five-star comfort with curated local partnerships and cultural activities.
Founded in 2001, 25hours has 16 properties around the world in cities including Berlin, Paris, Zurich, Vienna, Florence and Copenhagen, with the opening of a Sydney property slated for early 2025 in the upmarket suburb of Paddington. The brand’s newest addition celebrates the cultural contrasts of Indonesia’s capital, reflecting both the rapid modernisation of the city and its deep-rooted cultural heritage.

Drawing inspiration from mid-century architectural styles, the hotel showcases eclectic design typical of 25Hours’ DNA, with plenty of retro influences. Garden Rooms offer a separate sleeping and living area, king-size bed and rain shower, while Urban Rooms showcase a mid-century design with strong retro influences, including the addition of a vinyl record player. Guests of the hotel can also enjoy perks such as a Schindelhauer bike to explore the city, a free minibar, and a canvas or Freitag bag for use during their stay.
The hotel’s ten Creative Lounges, meanwhile, have been designed for the modern worker, providing flexible meeting spaces with communal pantries, ideal for brainstorming sessions or intimate events. There is also A 530-square-metre ballroom with outdoor deck and panoramic views, and a spa on the ninth floor offering treatments such as infrared sauna sessions and oxygen therapy. Dining options include COPA, a restaurant specialising in Latin American cuisine, and the poolside Cabana, which features plant-based dishes and cocktails.

The hotel also emphasises local immersion, encouraging guests to explore Jakarta’s vibrant streets and cultural experiences. “We are not just creating a place to stay, we are crafting unforgettable experiences, setting new standards while giving guests the liberty to express themselves,” stated Jesper Soerensen, General Manager of 25hours Hotel Jakarta The Oddbird. “Inspired by the urban jungle overtaken by Indonesia’s nature, this hotel is your playground of possibilities, where weird is wonderful. It’s the Paradise of Paradoxes.”
