Bali’s dedicated new wellness resort at Escape Haven
Head to the new Escape Haven retreat in Canggu for a restorative, mindful and luxurious recharge
International wellness brand Escape Haven has officially launched its new wellness resort in Canggu, Bali as an expansion of its original Bali retreat. Escape Haven was launched 14 years ago and has since welcomed 10,000 women from around the world to its facilities.
Escape Haven founder Janine Hall was in Sydney recently to launch the new women’s retreat. Referring to herself as the ‘Chief Happiness Officer, Janine explained how she took a leap of faith during the pandemic to purchase adjacent land to her existing retreat in order to build the wellness resort.
“Despite all of the odds being stacked up against me, I knew that this new wellness sanctuary would be a haven for women to come when the pandemic ended. It would be a space to relax, restore and recharge after facing so much stress, trauma and transition over the past two years,” said Janine.
Janine kept her Indonesian retreat team employed throughout the entire period of closure, using the time to upskill staff and be ready for when wellness travel returned.
“I am so proud of our team, and they too are excited about the launch of the new retreat space. In reality, it’s been 14 years in the making and collectively, we are so grateful to finally be able to open our doors when the world needs a luxury healing sanctuary more than ever before.”
A survey of 500 of her global female community in 2022 revealed that women need a place to heal. Mental health was shown to be the number one priority for 79 per cent of women, over physical health.
“Women want to feel taken care of,” says Janine. “2022 has been the great travel reset where we’ve gone from want-spaced travel to needs-space travel,” she said.
Sleep, healing and holistic wellbeing are the three fundamentals behind the design of the 17-room wellness resort, located near the beach in Canggu. Guests can enjoy all-inclusive food and drink as well as unlimited spa treatments. Those staying in either of the two Jacuzzi Suites are treated to private butler service and a dedicated spa therapist.
Design notes
Central to the resort is a large saltwater lagoon-style pool with a built-in fire pit and swim-up juice bar. Guests can take advantage of a recovery centre with infrared sauna, Moroccan style ice plunge pool and an eight-seat Jacuzzi.
The indoor spa treatment rooms have been thoughtfully designed to encourage women to rest and relax.
Each new private suite is named and inspired by a different Balinese goddess. They each feature their own colour palette and local artisan touches such as hand carved wooden bedheads and artworks and photographs by local creatives.
Two Jacuzzi suites feature a large jacuzzi bath and living garden walls. Meanwhile, six private deluxe suites include double bathrooms and a sunken Moroccan style bath. All rooms have black-out curtains and hand-blended natural spa products.
Several week-long retreat packages are available spanning such treatments and activities as yoga, surf, fitness, Ayurveda, Bali healing, detox, Pilates and sound healing.
The new sanctuary is within walking distance of Canggu’s best surf beaches, boutique shops and cafes.
