Eco and community initiatives:
The threat posed by climate change calls for the need to preserve natural resources and set green practices. These vary from large-scale initiatives – such as a clear policy on recycling, installing solar panels to provide energy and dimmer switches to conserve it, and finding ways to reuse waste water for flushing toilets and watering plants – to apparently trivial responses like reusing scrap paper as notepaper.
- Green practices training for all staff
- Belu water – the only 100% carbon neutral water company giving all profits to Water Aid
- Through Clean Conscience (#makingadifference) we recycle old soaps and toiletries which reduces waste to land fill and benefits humanitarian projects around the world
- Up-cycling of used candles into new wax products which then get sold, with all proceeds going to charity
- Dedicated fundraising initiatives for The Starlight Foundation, Hospitality Action and Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital
- In 2016, The Milestone donated £2,500 to SMART, a local charity focusing on mental health issues, to create an urban garden through the #GivePeasAChance competition, run by Cully & Sully and Grow it Yourself
- Adopted a polar bear through the World Wildlife Foundation as the hotel green mascot for 2017
- Work with the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation as part of our commitment to the local community
