St. Regis to open Maldivian private island resort

The new all-villa private island resort will be open this September in the Maldives.

St. Regis has introduced its first resort on a private island, the 77 all-villa St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort. The resort is just under 45 minutes from Malé by seaplane and is intended to offer relaxing seclusion.

Designed by WOW Architects and Warner Wong designs, Vommuli Resort is split into four zones offering different activities including spa, dining and adventure experiences.

Guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, private terraces, spacious bathrooms, and complimentary high-speed wireless Internet. Specialty villas are also available, with options including open water villas, beach villas with private pools, and family villas.

Throughout the resort, there are six dining options. Diners can choose from casual pizza at Crust, tapas with views of the water at Whale, global street food at Cargo, modern Italian at Alba, or Asian-themed food and drink at Orientale.

The resort is set to open on 1 September 2016. Rates start at US$1,771 (about A$2,369) for a king villa with a private garden and pool.
