The striking new holiday rental offers an appealing blend of comforting heritage, modern amenities and regenerative living
Ever-popular New South Wales beach town Byron Bay has its latest luxurious retreat in Lo Scoglio, an Italian-style farmhouse located in the prestigious enclave of Coopers Shoot. Designed by owners Charlie and Angelica Arnott, Lo Scoglio is inspired by the neo-classical mansions of Sicily’s southeastern coast. The rustic yet grand interior design merges the charm of a centuries-old farmhouse with modern, spacious living, and incorporates raw, natural materials from the NSW Northern Rivers region along with vintage treasures sourced from Italy.
The estate features a grand four-bedroom farmhouse and a one-bedroom studio, which together accommodate up to twelve staying guests, while catering for gatherings of up to thirty-five people.
Owners Charlie Arnott, an award- winning grazier and regenerative farming advocate, and his wife Angelica, whose expertise lie in natural regenerative living, designed Lo Scoglio to be a restorative retreat for those seeking to unwind, blending luxury, heritage and regeneration. “As biodynamic farmers, we’re entrenched in regenerative agriculture. Regeneration is about rest, recovery, and the seeds of growth,” stated Charlie.
The property is built on two decades of biodynamic farming principles, emphasising low-toxicity materials and sustainable practices. The property avoids artificial fertilizers, EMFs and chemicals, aiming to provide an optimal living environment. “Our backstory is the foundation of our Lo Scoglio front of house. Innately, how we developed Lo Scoglio is who we are,” Charlie said.
Lo Scoglio’s traditional Italian architecture and craftsmanship were inspired by Angelica’s Sicilian heritage. The property aims to evoke the feeling of standing for centuries, with every detail meticulously restored to reflect this legacy. “Lo Scoglio is an expression of my heritage, a place where I can honour my late father’s legacy,” she said.
Lo Scoglio also offers a range of wellness amenities, including a spa, yoga deck, ice bath and infrared sauna, along with holistic health services such as massages, acupuncture and nutritional guidance. Guests can also access personal trainers, yoga, Pilates and meditation instructors for a guided wellness experience.
The estate’s kitchen is designed for passionate cooks, with a vegetable garden on site and the option of a personalised chef available for those who don’t want to lift a finger during their stay. A concierge service is also available to arrange organic produce and other necessities.
