The Peninsula will offer its refined, sophisticated take on luxury accommodation in London when it opens its newest hotel in Belgravia to guests in September.

The much-anticipated Peninsula London has opened bookings for stays from 12 September 2023, following a years-long construction project at the corner of Hyde Park.

Designed to meld with the heritage architecture of London’s Belgravia neighbourhood, the interiors of the 190-key hotel have been conceptualised by Peter Marino. Guest rooms and suites range from 51–59m2, and have been appointed with custom furnishings, textiles, and artworks. Mahogany-panelled dressing rooms, bathrooms with honey onyx and custom fittings, and floor-to-ceiling windows, with views of surrounding attractions such as Wellington Arch, lend a further sense of Peninsula’s five-star refinement.

The hotel has collaborated with British artisans to inject local flair, with fashion designer Jenny Packham commissioned to create the uniforms for hotel staff.

Dining will include modern British fare at Brooklands, a rooftop restaurant from chef-director Claude Bosi, known for two-Michelin-starred Claude Bosi at Bibendum; Canton Blue, serving Chinese cuisine, cocktails, and teas, and The Lobby, where the Peninsula’s signature afternoon tea will be served with live music. Top-shelf drinks, a tasting lounge, and cigar storage will be available from Manu Harit, a certified ‘Master of Havana Cigars’.

At the spa and wellness centre, guests can take advantage of a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, fitness classes and workshops, and mind and body therapies. An internal courtyard has been landscaped in the style of a traditional English garden with ivy, wisteria, and 120-year-old Japanese maple trees.

Nearby attractions include Buckingham Palace, Kensington Gardens, Westminster, and the high-end shopping boutiques of New Bond Street, though guests can also visit the nine luxury boutiques located in the hotel’s ground-floor retail space, with brands including Asprey London, DMR – David M Robinson Jewellery and Watches, Mouawad, and Moussaieff Diamond.

“We are delighted to launch The Peninsula London, which is the culmination of decades of looking for the most exceptional location in London. We believe that the investment we have made into this project, the dedication of our people and the project teams we have worked with, and the quality and the attention to detail that we have strived for, will make this a unique hotel that we believe will stand out not only in London but globally, and will be one of the most important hotels in our group for generations to come,” said Clement Kwok, Managing Director and CEO of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited, owner and operator of The Peninsula.

To celebrate the launch, the hotel is offering a special rate and privileges for bookings made by 30 November, including an opening nightly rate of £1300 (about AUD$2475), including daily breakfast for two, flexible check-in and check-out times, use of a house car, and complimentary airport pick-up for all suite reservations.
