The second of Bawah Reserve’s six islands to be developed with the earth-conscious traveller in mind, Elang Private Residence will open in May 2020
Bawah Reserve, one of Indonesia’s most exclusive resorts, is set to launch Elang Private Residence. Opening in May 2020, Elang is the second of Bawah Reserve’s six islands to be developed with the earth-conscious traveller in mind.
Developed as the owner’s residence with a small village to accommodate family and friends, Elang offers an island experience for travellers who desire privacy, and is suitable for guests to book as a single lodge stay or a full island experience. With every detail designed to fit into the local topography, Elang features just six cliffside lodges, each with personal butler service.
Mirroring Bawah Reserve’s barefoot luxury style, the lodges on Elang are, too made of bamboo, driftwood, glass and hand-cut stone, with each featuring six-metre high ceilings, separate living areas, balconies and ocean views. Perched on the slopes of Elang, each lodge has been carefully positioned to have privacy with views of the sea and lagoons with private paths that lead down to rocky coves.
Elang also offers a guest-only clubhouse with dining room and bar, salt water infinity pool with slide, the Beach House restaurant, Kayu Spa and an activities lawn. In addition, guests are free to enjoy the restaurants and amenities of Bawah’s main island, located just three minutes away by boat, but guests of Bawah cannot visit Elang – making it even more exclusive than its sister property.
Inspired by tribal communal houses in Indonesia, the guest-only Clubhouse provides a gathering space with a two-storey open-air dining room, an ocean view bar and a saltwater infinity pool that was formed from a natural hollow.
The Kayu Spa is in a restored joglo, a traditional Javanese house, that was gifted to the owner, disassembled in Java and sent on a barge to be reused on Elang.
Rates start at $3,280 USD per night for the one-bedroom lodges and $4,680 USD per night for the two-bedroom Longhouse. Rates include all meals, private butler service, non-alcoholic beverages, yoga, pilates and meditation classes, one spa treatment per person per night, non-motorised water activities, laundry service and wifi.
