W Dubai – The Palm Opens on the Palm Jumeirah
W Hotels’ newest property showcases the brand’s signature eclectic design along with destination restaurants led by world-class chefs including Massimo Bottura and Akira Back
W Hotels has announced the opening of W Dubai – The Palm, located on the iconic Palm Jumeirah, the largest man-made island in the world.
The newest property from the playful hotel brand, W Dubai – The Palm showcases its signature eclectic design along with destination restaurants led by world-class chefs including Massimo Bottura and Akira Back. The hotel is the first W Escape in the region.
The W Dubai – The Palm celebrates the evolution of Dubai, juxtaposing the organic, natural curves of the city’s sand dunes and coastline with the marvel of the geometric lines of the city’s skyscrapers. Guests can expect dramatic style statements typical of the brand from the moment they arrive at the hotel, with many of the design decisions nodding to the destination’s history. Others exist purely to wow, like the 6.5 tonne, 30 metre-long visual vector at the hotel’s entrance that represents a W sound wave, its 640 glass pieces illuminating in alternating intensities and colours to reflect the beats of the DJ in the neighbouring W Lounge (lobby). There, guests will find an artistic interpretation of a traditional fire pit along with a 13.5-meter sofa, while a five-story atrium envelops the Welcome Desk, a reference to the destination’s ancient desert fortresses and citadels. The hotel’s iconic ‘W’ sign, meanwhile, was designed to resemble an evaporated desert river bed and the WHEELS (valet) area is reminiscent of a falage – a cavernous riverbed covered by palm fronds.
“Much like W has redefined modern luxury, Dubai is a city that is firmly in charge of writing its own narrative, fearlessly embracing the future through design, technology and global culture,” said Anthony Ingham, Global Brand Leader, W Hotels Worldwide. “The energy and marvel of this incredible city make it the perfect destination for a W Escape – our unique take on a resort holiday – where the bold style, iconic service and signature scene of a W come to play.”
The hotel’s 350 guest rooms and suites offer uninterrupted views showcase intricately tiled, curved walls adorned with modern graffiti featuring lyrics in Arabic from an iconic song by Lebanese singer, Fairouz.
W Dubai – The Palm’s amenities include multiple pools that sit in a wave-like pattern to form the W brand’s iconic WET Deck experience that directly faces the beach with views of the Dubai skyline. The W brand’s signature AWAY Spa offers ten treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, experiential showers, a hammam and a couples’ suite as well as a Beauty Bar for touch-ups and ‘Quick Fix’ treatments. FIT (gym) boasts state-of-the-art equipment overlooking the WET Deck, beach and skyline views, and 2000 square meters of event space are available for functions.
W Dubai – The Palm features an impressive six beverage and food destinations, with a standout in Torno Sobito – the first restaurant outside of Italy by global culinary genius, Chef Massimo Bottura. Bottura’s three-Michelin-star Modena restaurant, Osteria Francescana, has repeatedly been called the ‘World’s Best Restaurant’ and was documented on award-winning Netflix show, Chef’s Table.
The new destination restaurant serves up a masterful yet playful menu of Bottura’s favourite recipes, presented in ingenious and quirky ways, such as bite-sized morsels inside converted rescue boats and pedalos (paddle boats), and gelato from a roving gelato cart. The interior is a 60s-esque wonderland decked with woven green chairs, life-sized beachfront imagery, bold metallic accents adorning the ceilings and walls, and lighting reminiscent of dressing rooms and marquees from the golden age of Hollywood.
To celebrate the opening of W Dubai – The Palm, the hotel is offering travellers a lavish grand opening package, HIT ESCAPE, available until December 2019. Book a Wonderful room for two nights or more and get upgraded to a Spectacular Room with unbeatable views of the city skyline. Indulge in breakfast at LIV, relish afternoon tea at W Lounge and head to an adrenaline-fuelLed dinner for two at Akira Back. Minimum length of stay two nights. AED 1750 (approx. $477 US) per night.
