Golden Door Elysia is retreat that offers a proven health and wellness program with a skilled team of professional staff and practitioners. It is a place for guests to reconnect with mind, body and spirit, kick start a fitness and healthy eating program, try new activities or treatments and relax in the world class spa. The retreat features 74 villas with one, two or three bedrooms.

 

Guest profile:

80% female and 20% male. Guests come from all over Australia and New Zealand, with the majority from New South Wales and Victoria. Many guests travel alone or share with a friend or small group while couples enjoy doing the program together.

 

Family friendly:

The Golden Door offers a child-free environment with an age limit of 16 and above.

 

Getting there:

The Golden Door Elysia Health Retreat and Spa is located just two and a half hours drive from Sydney, or only one hour from Newcastle airport. Golden Door also offers a shuttle from Newcastle airport, Sydney airport and Chatswood train station on Sunday. Private transfers can also be arranged by the retreat.

 

Airport transfers:

Airport transfers are A$50 per person one way to/from Newcastle airport and A$75 per person one way to/from Sydney. Transfers are complimentary for 7-day program guests.

 

You need to know:

Golden Door is a tobacco, caffeine, alcohol and drug free environment. With the exception of the 2-day weekend taster program, all programs start on a Sunday.

 

On site dining and drinking facilities:

At Golden Door guests eat healthy nutritious food with more wholefoods, sensible portions and well-spaced meal times. A stay at Golden Door gives your body a rest from red meat, alcohol, caffeine, sugar and saturated fat. Guests are less likely to go back to their usual excessive levels once they have had the opportunity to have a break from these foods and then reintroduce them sensibly and in moderation.

Free undercover parking is available for Retreat guests and Day Spa visitors.

Pool

The retreat features a 25 metre indoor heated pool and an outdoor pool, separate women’s and men’s spa and steam rooms.

Gym

Yes, along with indoor activity centre, tennis courts, and three yoga and fitness studios. There is a full program of activities from low, medium and high intensity fitness classes to mindfulness or meditation training that guests can choose to participate in. Guests also have the option to book one-on-one fitness or wellness sessions with some of Australia’s most skilled practitioners, including naturopathy, physiotherapy, acupuncture, hypnotherapy and Feldenkrais.

Spa:

Yes, in addition to a wellness centre, relaxation lounges, and more than 26 treatment rooms including a purpose built Watsu pool where guests can indulge in Golden Door Elysia’s signature treatment.

 

Eco and community initiatives:

Golden Door participate in the Aus Harvest project, donating unused food from our kitchen and gardens to go toward meals for the homeless. Donations from Golden Door this year have resulted in over 4,000 meals being provided.

Golden Door is constantly working to reduce the carbon footprint of the retreat and undertake recycling where ever possible and are currently working on water capture plans to recycle water for use on our gardens. The retreat kitchen also composts to enhance the produce grown in our gardens.
