Christmas and New Year’s at Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley

Pony rides, a family cricket match and an appearance by Santa Claus himself will be followed by a gourmet five-course Christmas dinner.

Over the Christmas and New Year holiday period, Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley will be hosting a range of festive activities and culinary experiences themed around a quintessential Australian bush Christmas.

Beginning on 24 December, activities for children include craft making, Australian-animal inspired face painting, family games, boat making, a family cricket match and miniature boat racing along Carne creek. On Christmas Day, Santa Claus will be making an appearance and passing around gifts.

On Christmas Eve, families can participate in an Australian bush experience, which includes pony rides for the children, whip cracking demonstrations and live music accompanied by glasses of sparkling wine. Wildlife and sundowner four-wheel drive expeditions will also take place. A Christmas Day lunch in true Australian style will be followed by a gourmet five-course degustation for Christmas dinner; a classic Boxing Day barbecue will be held on the 26th.

On New Year’s Eve, live music accompanied by champagne is on offer, followed by a hike, barbecue lunch and wildlife tour on New Year’s Day.

Weather to go

The Blue Mountains have a cool climate. The summer months (Dec-Jan) are mild to warm and are relatively wet, with the average temperature of the lower mountains sitting at 29°C. In winter (Jun-Aug) the weather is cool and dry, with the average day temperature of around 16°C. However the temperature generally drops 2°C with every 300m increase in altitude. The higher you go the cooler it gets!
