Cathay Pacific launches high-altitude craft beer

Cathay Pacific have partnered with Hong Kong Beer Co to create a craft beer specifically designed for drinking at altitude. Named after Cathay Pacific’s first aircraft ‘Betsy’, the beer contains a combination of ingredients intended to counteract the effects that cabin pressure and high altitude have on passengers’ taste buds during a flight.

Those sampling the brew may detect a hint of Dragon Eye fruit, which adds to the rich textural properties of the beer, or a touch of New Territories’-sourced honey, which contributes to the floral notes. The beer also borrows from the British, using the Fuggle hop favoured by British craft ales to give the beer a full-bodied, earthy flavour.

Betsy Beer will be available on board First and Business Class flights between Hong Kong and Australia until 30 April 2017.
